Why I Started House Steward?

I grew up in Michigan, working at my father's furniture store in Ann Arbor. Michigan feels like home. It always has.

When my wife and I bought our house here, we loved it. But between two full-time jobs, we were drowning in housework. The last thing either of us wanted to do at the end of a long day was fold laundry or scrub dishes.

We tried hiring help. A cleaning service came weekly, but they didn't do the dishes the way we needed. We had someone help with laundry, but the inconsistency was frustrating. The dishes piled up. The laundry sat clean but unfolded. The vents and filters? I couldn't tell you the last time anyone touched them.

I kept thinking: What if there was a service that handled all of this the right way?

What if someone could thoroughly clean the house—better than any cleaning service—AND handle everything else? What if they washed the dishes properly before loading the dishwasher? Nothing from another home ever touches yours. We bring fresh premium cleaning cloths to every visit—color-coordinated by task and laundered at our facility after each use in a high-quality vinegar-based solution with hot water to eliminate bacteria. Cloths are replaced frequently to maintain peak performance.
How We Handle Your Dishes
Your dishes aren't just cleaned—they're cared for. We hand-wash delicate items with gentle, eco-friendly dish soap, rinse everything thoroughly before loading the dishwasher, and dry hand-washed pieces with premium lint-free cotton towels kept at your home. No rushing. No careless stacking. No water spots or fibers left behind. We handle your glassware, china, and cookware the way you would—with attention, care, and respect for what they're worth.
How We Handle Your Laundry
We treat your laundry with the same care you would. Before touching any clothing, our stewards wash their hands thoroughly and remove their cleaning apron. Laundry is folded with clean hands—never after cleaning toilets, ovens, or bathrooms. Delicate items are handled gently, folded precisely, and staged neatly for you to put away. We understand these are personal items, and we treat them that way.
How We Care for Cleaning Tools
Disposable cleaning tools—scrub pads and sponges—are used once and discarded after your visit. We provide a high-quality mop for your home, sanitized and rinsed thoroughly after each use, then left to dry in place. We use your vacuum and toilet brushes to ensure nothing from another household ever enters yours. Every tool is either discarded after use, professionally sanitized, or dedicated exclusively to your home.
